Cook Regular Part Time Boston, MA, US 20 days ago Requisition ID: 1443 Salary Range: $28.00 To $29.00 Hourly Position Summary Our culinary team members, also known as cooks, will be passionate culinary professionals who are energetic, responsible, and able to work in a customer service focused fast‑paced environment. Additional skills include the ability to multitask, work as a team, and serve customers with a smile. Essential Functions Prepare food following recipe cards and production and portion standards Adhere to all applicable Canopy by Hilton Boston Downtown and brand standards Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef instructions Ensure food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and timely fashion Date and rotate stored food items as per hotel and food safety standards Ensure proper time and temperature standards Maintain compliance with applicable health, safety, food handling, hygiene codes and standards Assist in dish washing and other areas of the kitchen as needed Note out of stock items and possible shortages Operate, maintain, and properly clean all kitchen equipment for cooking, prep, and storage Assist in prep work for next shift Check par levels for shift use Assist in storing food deliveries Ensure proper breakdown at end of shift and cleaning of kitchen and other workstations as needed Supportive Functions In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination supportive function, with the percentage of time performing each function to be determined by the Executive Chef and Food & Drink Leadership based upon the requirements of the Hotel. Other Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Team Members with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, Team Members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. Upon employment, all Team Members are required to fully comply with the hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities set forth by the Canopy Boston Downtown, Olshan Properties and Hilton hotels. Specific Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Thorough knowledge and understanding of kitchen equipment use and operation Performs other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management Full‑time able to work weekday and weekend shifts Working safely and within Canopy by Hilton Boston Downtown strict guidelines related to COVID‑19 prevention Culinary crew are required to prepare food while mindful of food allergies Ability to speak, read and write English Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays Ability to concentrate in high‑volume high‑pressure area Ability to stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling and can lift 50 lbs Possess considerable ability to listen effectively Visual ability to read manufacturer’s instructions, correspondence, etc. First Aid and CPR certified ServSafe and TiPS certified Qualifications Education High school degree or equivalent preferred. Culinary arts or a related field education or experience preferred. Sanitation and culinary knowledge and demonstrated knife skills and safe food handling practices preferred. Experience Prior related work experience (hotel experience preferred) Strong culinary skills and knowledge of food production techniques and standards Hilton experience preferred Licenses or Certificates TiPS and ServSafe certification (within 30 days if certification is expired) First Aid and CPR certified Grooming All Team Members must maintain a neat, clean, and well‑groomed appearance according to the Olshan Properties Team Member Handbook Additional Requirements Additional language ability preferred Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, or qualifications associated with the position May perform other duties as assigned.
