Telecom-Outside Plant Field Technician – OSP / Field Survey

Pay: $27–$35/hour

We are actively hiring multiple Telecom-Outside Plant Field Technicians to perform field surveys, collect utility, Fiber/FTTH and HFC telecommunications infrastructure information, and document existing site conditions throughout the assigned territory.

This is a field-based position ideal for someone who is comfortable working primarily outdoors and independently, using smartphones and mobile technology, reading maps, and spending the majority of the workday outdoors.

Previous telecommunications, utility, GIS, surveying, OSP, construction, or field inspection experience is helpful, but candidates with strong technical aptitude and the ability to learn field-mapping applications are encouraged to apply.

What You'll Do:

• Travel to assigned field locations to document existing telecommunications and utility conditions.
• Preferred Knowledge of Katapult PRO Software / or equivalent
• Perform field surveys and site walkouts for telecommunications projects.
• Collect accurate field data using a smartphone, tablet, or other mobile device.
• Record utility locations, equipment, infrastructure, measurements, photos, and other required site information.
• Use GIS, mapping, and mobile field-data applications to document field conditions.
• Verify existing utilities and telecommunications infrastructure at assigned locations.
• Ensure all required field information is complete and accurate before submitting it.
• Coordinate collected information with the Engineering Department and project teams.
• Revisit locations when additional or corrected information is required.
• Submit daily progress reports to the Field Technician Manager.
• Work independently throughout an assigned geographic territory.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree or coursework in Telecommunications, Electrical Technology, Engineering Technology, GIS, or a related field is preferred but not required.
• Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, mobile applications, GPS, and other technology.
• Ability to learn GIS and mapping software.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document field conditions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Valid driver's license.
• Reliable transportation as required for field travel.
• Previous telecom, OSP, utility, surveying, construction, field inspection, or infrastructure experience is a plus.
• Must be able to have your own Cell Phone

Physical & Field Requirements

• Ability to walk approximately 5-10 miles per day .
• Ability to work outdoors in changing weather and seasonal conditions.
• Ability to look upward frequently while documenting poles, lines, and telecommunications infrastructure.
• Must wear appropriate footwear and weather-appropriate clothing while performing field work.
