Registered Nurse - Psychiatric

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Behavioral Health RN provides specialized nursing care to psychiatric patients, managing assessments, treatment plans, and interventions to support client recovery and well-being. This role involves direct patient care, clinical coordination, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure top-quality mental health services.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the planning and delivery of nursing care for psychiatric clients, ensuring adherence to safety and treatment protocols.
• Evaluate patient needs through comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medications, including psychotropic agents, and document responses accurately.
• Monitor patients for safety risks, including harmful behavior or contraband, and implement appropriate safety measures.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medication adherence, and coping strategies.
• Participate in team meetings, multidisciplinary treatment planning, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Hold a current Illinois registered nursing license.
• Graduate from an accredited Nursing School; B.S.N. or equivalent experience preferred.
• BLS certification required; CPI and APS training are mandatory for this role.
• Demonstrate clinical competence in psychiatric nursing and assessment skills.
• Possess strong critical thinking, communication, and team collaboration abilities.
