Maintenance Technician And OperatorArrowhead Talent Solutions is helping a manufacturing company find a Maintenance Technician and Operator in the Canton, OH area. The plant runs around the clock and each shift is covered by two people: an operator and a maintenance technician. You need to operate on a 12-hour rotating pattern, nights and weekends included.This opening is for maintenance. You are the only maintenance person on site for most of your shift, so you own the condition of the plant while you are there: the planned work, the breakdowns, the isolations and the decisions that go with them. The company will also train you in operations, so that in time you can cover both sides of the shift.Schedule and PayShift: 12 hours. Days 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, nights 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.Rotation: 4 nights on, 3 off, 3 days on, 1 off, 3 nights on, 3 off, 4 days on, then a full week off. The cycle repeats every 28 days.Hours: Averages 42 hours a week over the cycle. Weekend work is part of the rotation, around two weekends a month.Pay: $28.00 to $36.00 an hour depending on experience, plus overtime.Maintenance WorkStrip, repair and rebuild centrifugal, gear and air operated diaphragm pumps: mechanical seals, bearings, wear rings, impellers and couplings.Align pumps and drivers, set couplings, and check for vibration, run-out and overheating before it turns into a failure.Overhaul valves, actuators, agitators, gearboxes, blowers and air compressors.Strip, clean and rebuild heat exchangers, filters, strainers and coalescers.Rig and lift equipment in and out safely using slings, chain blocks and the site lifting gear.Pipework and FabricationPipefitting and repairs in carbon and stainless: cutting, threading, flanges, gaskets and torqueing to spec.Basic welding and fabrication for brackets, guards, supports and small repairs.Hose, fitting and coupling replacement on loading arms, transfer lines and utilities.Electrical and Instrumentation, First LineFault find motors, starters, contactors, VFDs and control circuits, and replace or isolate what is within scope.Check and calibrate field instruments: pressure and level transmitters, thermocouples and RTDs, flow meters, control valves and positioners.Carry out loop checks and trace signal faults back to the DeltaV system.Bring in and escort specialist electrical, instrument or rotating equipment contractors when the job goes past first line.Utilities and Fixed PlantBoiler, steam and condensate systems, including feedwater, traps and blowdown.Cooling water, compressed air, nitrogen and hydrogen systems.Dryers, chillers, heat tracing and lagging.Tank farm equipment, loading arms, transfer pumps and containment.Planned Maintenance and RecordsDeliver the planned maintenance schedule on your shift and keep it on track rather than letting it slip behind the breakdowns using Maintain XRun the lubrication routes, filter changes, greasing and condition checks.Close out work orders properly and build equipment history, so repeat faults are visible and get fixed at the cause.Keep an eye on critical spares, raise what needs ordering and put stock away correctly.Support statutory and insurance inspections on relief valves, pressure vessels and lifting equipment.Prepare for and work planned shutdowns and turnarounds, including opening up and boxing back up.Breakdowns and SafetyFirst responder to any breakdown on shift. Diagnose it, fix it if it can be fixed, and make the call on running on or shutting down safely when it cannot.Isolate and prove equipment dead under lockout/tagout, and prepare plant for permit work, confined space entry and hot work.Keep the workshop, tools and spares area in a state where the next person can find what they need at 3:00 AM.Operating WorkMonitor and control the plant from the DeltaV system, respond to alarms and adjust within the operating limits.Do the plant rounds, take readings and samples and record shift data.Load and unload tankers and railcars.Support start-up, shutdown and changeovers.Hand over properly to the next crew, including anything left outstanding.QualificationsIndustrial maintenance experience in a process, chemical, refining or heavy manufacturing plant.Strong mechanical fitting skills: seals, bearings, alignment, couplings, gaskets and precision measurement.Basic electrical fault finding and confidence working around instruments and control systems.Able to work from P&IDs, equipment manuals and general arrangement drawings.A serious attitude to safety, including lockout/tagout, permits, confined space and hot work.Able to work on your own at night and make sound calls without a supervisor standing over you.Keen to learn the operating side and be signed off on it.Steady work history, satisfactory background check and pre-employment drug screen.High school diploma or equivalent, and authorized to work in the United States.What They Offer$28.00 to $36.00 an hour depending on experience, with overtime available.Training and sign-off as a plant operator on top of your maintenance trade.Comprehensive health benefits.401(k) retirement plan.Paid vacation accrued over time, and paid sick leave.Eleven paid holidays a year.Company uniforms and an annual work boot allowance.A small team, a safe site and work that varies day to day.
