Planted in 2013, the church has experienced steady growth and now welcomes around 600 people each Sunday across two identical services at 9:15a and 10:45a. Under the leadership of Lead Pastor Andy McQuaid since 2014, the church has completed two building phases and continues to position itself for long term impact in a rapidly expanding and affluent community. Lake Oconee Church is a partner church within the Irresistible Church Network and shares a strong commitment to creating engaging, strategic, and mission driven Sunday environments designed to reach people far from God. The church has built a strong culture of small groups with over 90 percent of regular attenders connected in groups, sees consistent first time guest engagement, and maintains a high percentage of people serving on teams. With a clear outreach focus, monthly baptisms, and a reputation as one of the most engaging churches in the area for young families, Lake Oconee Church continues to position itself as a church that is intentional about reaching its community while building depth in discipleship. The church is seeking the right candidate to take over as the new Student Ministries Director to oversee the middle school and high school ministry at the church. The right candidate will have a deep personal life in Christ and the character and capacity that align with the church’s overall mission and vision. Below are the qualifications and responsibilities Froot Group and the church have identified for this role: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Student Environment Leadership Champion fun, safe, helpful, and engaging weekly environments for Middle School and High School students. Lead the planning and execution of weekly gatherings including programming flow, teaching, worship coordination, games, and small groups. Teach regularly in student environments and periodically share in main stage hosting and speaking opportunities. Ensure all environments remain aligned with provided curriculum and overall church philosophy. Volunteer Leadership and Development Recruit, schedule, train, develop, and shepherd small group leaders, hosts, presenters, tech operators, and support teams. Lead leaders by casting vision, coaching captains, and building clear leadership pathways. Conduct weekly huddles and consistent communication touchpoints to clarify vision, celebrate wins, and reinforce culture. Nurture a culture of time on their turf where leaders intentionally engage students outside scheduled environments. Programming and Event Execution Oversee execution of retreats, camps, and special events including Big Stuf, Vertical Reality, Walking Wisely, Promotion Sunday, and other key milestones. Maintain quarterly volunteer schedules at least two months in advance and follow up on attendance gaps. Implement reproducible weekly systems for curriculum preparation, supply management, guest follow up, safety processes, and room readiness. Ensure excellence of signage, props, equipment, and student ministry spaces. Parent and Community Engagement Build relational trust with parents through proactive communication and visibility. Schedule regular meetings with parents, volunteers, and potential leaders. Model consistent presence at local school events and student activities. Strategy and Systems Manage department budget with integrity and stewardship. Maintain and enforce established safety and emergency protocols. Track attendance, engagement, and measurable goals for the ministry. Meet consistently with the Family Ministry Director to align calendars, strategy, and initiatives. Participate in Lake Oconee Church team meetings and Irresistible Church Network gatherings for alignment and development. QUALIFICATIONS Deep and growing relationship with Jesus Christ with evidence of spiritual maturity. Alignment with Lake Oconee Church Statement of Beliefs and Leadership Agreement. Demonstrated leadership experience within student ministry environments. Strong administrative and execution skills. Proven ability to recruit, empower, and multiply volunteers. Clear and engaging communicator capable of connecting with both students and adults. Professional presence capable of earning the trust of parents and church leadership. Education A bachelor’s degree in a ministry-related field is preferred, though not required. Equivalent ministry training, internship, residency, or demonstrated biblical formation is required. Experience Prior student ministry leadership experience required.
