Manager, Radiation Oncology

Inova Alexandria Hospital is looking for a dedicated Manager, Radiation Oncology to join the Team. This full-time role will be day-shift working Monday – Friday located in Alexandria, VA.The Manager of Radiation Oncology demonstrates the leadership skills and independent actions necessary to support a Radiation Oncology work environment while ensuring the effective utilization of Human Resources throughout the department for adequate staffing requirements. Develops and assists in continuous performance improvement within the department in order to maintain optimal quality patient care by staying abreast of current technology. Work/Life Balance: offering paid time off, paid parental leave, flexible work schedules.Manager, Radiation Oncology Responsibilities:Oversees assigned department or functional area to ensure it is performing effectively, which may include but not limited to, hiring and training team members, creating and implementing business strategies, managing performance of team members, and delegating tasks.Ensures adequate staffing plans and equitable staffing requirements on a 24 hour basis; Effectively displays Human Resource management through interviewing, hiring, completing timely team member performance appraisals and counseling/administering positive discipline.Demonstrates an ability to adapt to a dynamic environment and proactively plan, direct and implement changes, as well as new innovations, related to Radiation Oncology.Evaluates work performance of the nursing staff, Chief Therapist and Patient Registration Manager; Works with individual leaders to evaluate and review Radiation Therapists, Patient Services Representatives and any other appropriate staff.Works closely with Radiation Oncology Medical Director regarding operations, quality assurance initiatives and growth strategies. Demonstrates creativity in overall operational skills, independent action and contingency planning preparation.Develops indicators, with the Quality Improvement (QI) committee members, for ongoing QI program monitoring and improvements.Achieves and maintains accreditation with The American College of Radiology; Maintains awareness and readiness, at all times, of The Joint Commission requirements and surveys.Demonstrates the ability to initiate and manage various projects with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness; Monitors productivity ratios and alerts the Director of Cancer Services when productivity falls above or below agreed upon percentages.Identifies strategies to improve billing/reimbursement, decrease denial rates and increase collection ratio; Works closely with the Patient Registration Manager to improve efficiencies.May perform additional duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree in radiation therapy, management, healthcare administration or related field (or relevant experience in lieu of degree equivalent to 4 years)Experience: 2 years of experience in a Lead Therapist, Chief Therapist, or management role in an oncology department Preferred Qualifications:Previous Lead Radiation Therapist experience preferred.Previous radiation therapy experience preferred.We are Inova, Northern Virginia’s leading nonprofit healthcare provider.
