Overview The University of Southern California (USC) seeks a Clinical Investigator specializing in hematologic malignancies to serve as Associate Director of the Leukemia/Lymphoma Program within the Division of Hematology-Oncology, Department of Pediatrics, Keck School of Medicine, USC. The role partners with the Leukemia/Lymphoma Program Director to lead clinical and clinical research activities in pediatric hematologic malignancies, provide patient care, develop and lead clinical trials, and advance a leading clinical research program. The position includes membership in the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center and an academic appointment through USC Keck School of Medicine at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, appropriate to training and experience. Responsibilities Assist in the leadership of clinical and clinical research activities in pediatric hematologic malignancies. Partner with the Leukemia/Lymphoma Program Director in program oversight. Provide patient care in pediatric hematology-oncology. Develop and lead clinical trials and advance the program’s clinical research efforts. Collaborate with the CBDI and other divisions to integrate translational and cellular therapies as applicable. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years as an Assistant Professor in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology with a focus in hematologic malignancies. A desire to become a leader in clinical trial development. Academic appointment through USC Keck School of Medicine at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, appropriate to training and experience. Program highlights The Leukemia/Lymphoma Program at CHLA is one of the largest in the nation, seeing approximately 120 new patients each year. Robust clinical, translational, and basic science research infrastructure; headquarters for the Therapeutic Advances in Childhood Leukemia/Lymphoma (TACL) Consortium. Comprehensive genomic characterization, bench-to-bedside investigations of novel agents, and leading cellular therapies. Close partnership with the CBDI’s Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Program (80-100 transplants and 20-40 CAR T-cell therapies annually). CBDI includes a cell processing laboratory and cGMP facility and is accredited by FACT and NMDP. Organization, funding, and environment CBDI is the largest and top-ranked pediatric hematology-oncology program in the western U.S. U.S. News & World Report rankings (2022-23): CHLA #8, CBDI #14. Research funding in FY22 totaled $54 million with $9 million in new awards. The CBDI hosts an ACGME-accredited pediatric hematology-oncology fellowship and 1-year advanced subspecialty fellowships in Transplantation/Cellular Therapy, AYA Oncology, Neuro-Oncology, and Coagulation. Compensation and benefits Annual base salary range: $116,505–$417,709.
