QA/QC Technician - Utility Scale Solar & Battery Energy Storage (BESS)

We are seeking a QA/QC Technician to support some of the nation's largest utility-scale solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. In this highly visible role, you will be responsible for ensuring that solar generation and energy storage installations meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance before commissioning.

What You'll Do

As a QA/QC Technician, you will serve as the on-site quality representative, working closely with field leadership, engineering teams, commissioning personnel, and clients to ensure work is installed correctly the first time.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform quality inspections across solar, electrical, civil, mechanical, and battery energy storage scopes of work

• Verify installation compliance with approved drawings, specifications, construction standards, and manufacturer requirements

• Inspect and document BESS equipment installations including battery containers, PCS units, inverter skids, transformers, cable terminations, grounding systems, and associated infrastructure

• Identify deficiencies early and drive corrective actions to protect project schedules, budgets, and warranty requirements

• Generate and manage punch lists while tracking corrective actions through completion

• Conduct internal turnover inspections and support client acceptance inspections

• Review field installation practices to ensure adherence to quality management plans and project standards

• Maintain inspection reports, turnover packages, quality records, and testing documentation

• Collaborate with commissioning teams to verify readiness for startup and energization activities

• Utilize Procore, Bluebeam, and other quality tracking systems to document findings and maintain project records

• Participate in daily planning meetings and provide quality updates to project leadership

• Support client walkthroughs and serve as a point of contact for quality-related inquiries

• Identify and communicate both quality and safety concerns in the field

• Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of QA/QC, inspection, electrical, solar, or construction experience

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, electrical one-lines, specifications, and installation details

• Strong understanding of quality control processes and documentation requirements

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify installation deficiencies

• Comfortable working independently in an active construction environment

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

• Familiarity with construction management software and Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

• Utility-scale solar construction experience

• Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) experience

• Electrical construction, substation, power generation, or commissioning expierence

• Experience inspecting battery containers, inverters, transformers, SCADA systems, switchgear, or medium-voltage equipment

• OSHA 30 Certification

• Experience using Procore, Bluebeam, Salesforce, or other project management platforms

• Knowledge of solar commissioning, energization, and turnover processes

• Understanding of NEC, NFPA, and utility-scale energy construction standards

Work Environment

This role is based on an active construction site, working full-time on-site through the duration of the project. The work takes place primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, requiring comfort with standing, walking, climbing, and moving around active construction activities throughout the day. The environment involves close collaboration with field engineers, superintendents, project managers, commissioning teams, and safety personnel. You will regularly use construction documentation platforms such as Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office, as well as quality tracking tools and standard inspection equipment. Safety is a core focus, with strict adherence to site safety policies and procedures and a strong emphasis on hazard recognition and reporting. The setting is fast-paced and dynamic, offering hands-on experience in solar, electrical, mechanical, and civil construction quality control.

This is a Permanent position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $56160.00 - $56160.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
