Quality Inspector I

Blue Canyon Technologies, RTX's small satellite manufacturer and mission services provider, is solving some of the toughest challenges in space. Position Quality Inspector I – Full Time, on-site at Boulder, CO. Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour. Benefits Employer‑sponsored health, dental, and vision benefits effective the first of the month following hire date Life insurance 401(k) with 4% match up to a 5% contribution Generous PTO (3 weeks vacation + 3 floating holidays, 2 weeks sick time, 7 paid holidays) and parental leave Job Responsibilities Inspect mechanical hardware using calipers, micrometers, height gages, thread gages, and CMMs. Inspect printed wiring boards and verify electrical, electronic, and electromechanical components, cable assemblies, and printed wiring assemblies. Inspect spaceflight components such as buses, solar arrays, sun sensors, reaction wheels and other subassembly components. Review and verify incoming supplier documentation including material traceability, test reports, certificates of compliance, and packing lists. Document inspection activities in electronic information systems, written logs, and labels. Witness and verify testing and setup operations. Detect non‑conforming conditions and document them in clear, precise language. Collaborate with program Quality Engineers and Manufacturing personnel to address process and product non‑conformances constructively. Foster a collaborative, interactive team environment that supports learning and teaching, while maintaining effective work relationships across the company. Follow established safety practices, policies, and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives; proactively suggest improvements and report issues to management. Other responsibilities as assigned. Required Qualifications / Education High school diploma or GED equivalent. 0‑3 years of experience. Inspection or Quality Engineering experience in aerospace/defense, electronics contract manufacturing, or high‑precision machining. Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) ASME Y14.5; formal training preferred. Experience with inspection of electronic workmanship of PWAs and cables (IPC‑610, IPC‑620). Current 3rd‑party certification to standards is required. Understanding of mechanical drawings and technical schematics. Experience performing Receiving Inspection and reviewing material certifications. Experience with ERP/MRP and engineering data management software. Basic understanding of material flow in manufacturing and importance of measuring‑tool calibration. Familiarity with ISO9000 requirements; AS9100 experience preferred. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Working Conditions This job operates in a professional office environment within a manufacturing company, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copier, scanners, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Physical Demands and Work Environment Regularly required to sit for long periods; occasionally required to stand, bend, reach, and walk. Position requires some light physical effort, including lifting items up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities are required (close vision, distance vision, focus adjustment).
