Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Clinical Resource Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: Not specified License: Nursing License Required Certifications: BLS (AHA) Required Must-Have: - Ability to float to multiple units and provide care to diverse patient populations. - Ability to manage care for both acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients. - Ability to develop, implement, and modify patient care plans. - Skill in medication administration and evaluating medication effects. - Skill in preparing patients for procedures and managing post-operative care. - Skill in IV venipuncture and blood administration. - Ability to document care accurately using EMR. - Ability to educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions. - Ability to provide constructive feedback and assist in professional development of peers. - Ability to handle conflict management and maintain professional communication with team members. - Skill in critical thinking to assess patient status and take appropriate action. - Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members. - Ability to prioritize patient safety and adhere to all safety standards including fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, and ambulation safety. - Ability to complete patient bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and maintain updated patient communication boards. - Ability to delegate appropriately and follow up on delegated tasks. Description: The Clinical Resource Unit is committed to our Nursing Professional Practice Model. We believe in caring relationships with our patients, families, community, and colleagues to provide exceptional care. In this unit, dedicated nursing staff, nurse leaders, interdisciplinary team members, and physician partners provide specialized medical and nursing care to various inpatient units. Medical diagnoses include but are not limited to coronary artery disease, angina, myocardial ischemia, myocardial infarction, dysrhythmia, syncope, congestive heart failure, strokes, cancer, cellulitis, post-surgical care, and chest pain. The environment is fast-paced, exciting, and always evolving. Responsibilities include performing all duties required by the unit specific to the scope of service. Nurses implement procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided is essential. An initial assessment is completed upon patient admission, and an appropriate plan of care is developed based on patient and family needs. Nurses implement and modify the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. Taking responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents is essential. Effective communication with colleagues is necessary to resolve issues. Providing constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers is encouraged. Nurses confer with colleagues to expand their knowledge base and identify their own learning needs. Floating to various inpatient units is required, and providing direct nursing care while collaborating with multidisciplinary team members is essential. Conducting and documenting assessments, nursing diagnoses, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care is a core responsibility. Acting as a resource to staff from various units is expected. Coordinating care with multidisciplinary team members ensures the highest possible quality of patient care. Nurses manage the care of acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients. Collaboratively identifying patient goals of care and designing and maintaining care plans with patients and families is important. Implementing interventions as needed, including medication administration and evaluation of effects, is part of the role. Preparing patients for procedures, providing pain management, performing IV venipuncture, administering blood, and monitoring labs is required. Discharging patients and providing instruction for a safe transition from the hospital is part of the job. All care must be documented using EMR. Ensuring team huddles occur and attending them is necessary. Nurses must delegate with appropriate follow-up. All basic care such as turning, toileting, etc., should be performed per standards of care. Handling conflict management while maintaining professional communication with team members is expected. Providing post-operative care for the complex surgical population is a key responsibility.
