Position Summary

Priority Construction Corporation is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to join our team and support our Payroll Administrator and Human Resources Department.

The Payroll Assistant will assist with the preparation and processing of weekly payroll for approximately 200 employees. This position will help collect and verify timesheets, enter payroll information, maintain accurate employee records, assist with certified payroll reporting, and ensure payroll information is processed accurately and confidentially.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable working with numbers and data, and able to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and payroll information. Experience in payroll, certified payroll, or the construction industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist the Payroll Administrator with the preparation and processing of weekly payroll.

Collect timesheets and payroll information from field and office personnel.

Review timesheets for accuracy, completeness, and proper approvals.

Enter payroll data accurately and efficiently.

Assist with payroll processing while understanding prevailing wage requirements and certified job classifications.

Assist with preparing and submitting weekly Certified Payroll reports to government agencies and general contractors.

Assist with ensuring accurate tax withholdings and garnishment deductions.

Enter and maintain payroll adjustments, including raises, bonuses, and other changes.

Research and help resolve payroll discrepancies and employee questions.

Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records.

Assist with organizing payroll documentation and maintaining electronic and physical files.

Communicate with employees and management regarding payroll-related questions and information.

Assist with compliance-related payroll documentation and reporting.

Provide general administrative support to the Payroll Administrator and Human Resources Department.

Perform other payroll and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum of 1–2 years of payroll, accounting, administrative, or related experience preferred.

Previous experience as a Payroll Assistant, Payroll Administrator, or similar role is a plus.

Experience with payroll software preferred.

Experience with Certified Payroll is preferred.

Construction industry experience is a plus.

Knowledge of federal and state payroll compliance requirements preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Strong data-entry and computer skills.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
