Qualifications All candidates shall be certified and/or approved for teaching by the Department of Education for the State of Michigan. All teachers are required to hold the appropriate endorsement for the subject(s) they are assigned to teach. Teachers who are catechists (teachers of religion) must be certified by the Department of Evangelization, Catechesis and Schools. Responsibilities and Duties Design and implement lesson plans that integrate Gospel values into the core curriculum. Apply differentiated instruction and assessment that improves achievement for all learners in a learner‑centered and collaborative environment. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of assigned students. Work with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods of instruction. Implement research‑based practices including differentiated instruction. Consistently create a high level of active student engagement and student‑led learning. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process including iPads, Clever Touchboards and online instructional platforms, such as Freckle Math and Reading. Use STAR testing data to target individual learning targets for students. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, spiritual, and emotional development of students. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Code of Conduct, using a positive and proactive management system. Create an environment of respect and rapport, rooted in faith. Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, principals, colleagues, and community members. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly using facts. Communicate updates with parents through weekly newsletters. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
