Senior Director, External Science Engagement & Strategy - Cell Therapy

AstraZeneca seeks a Senior Director to lead external scientific engagement and strategic partnerships across its cell therapy portfolio. The role involves cultivating academic collaborations, managing expert panels, directing medical congress strategies, and translating external insights into clinical development decisions across hematology, autoimmune, rare disease, and neurology programs.
Responsibilities
- Design and lead external scientific panels and advisory committees addressing program-level strategic questions
- Develop integrated medical congress strategies for major conferences including ASH, ASCO, EHA, and ESMO
- Identify and cultivate strategic relationships with key external experts, academic institutions, and cell therapy centers
- Partner with clinical development teams to translate external insights into study design and evidence-generation plans
- Establish governance frameworks, track engagement outcomes, and document strategic recommendations across programs
Requirements
- Extensive experience in external scientific engagement, partnerships, or medical affairs within biopharmaceutical R&D
- Demonstrated ability to design and execute strategic stakeholder engagement programs and advisory forums
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across clinical development, regulatory, and medical affairs functions
- Experience with cell therapy, advanced therapeutics, or oncology clinical development preferred
- Strategic planning and execution capability with measurable outcomes and governance frameworks
- Proven track record building and managing relationships with academic institutions and key opinion leaders
