Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• 24-bed Med/Surg Telemetry overflow unit in a hospital setting
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
• Patient ratio of 1:5, with occasional 1:6; CNAs on unit at a 1:12 ratio for additional support
• Telemetry is monitored remotely by a tech on another unit
• Charting in Epic (preferred); Pyxis and SBAR also used
• Floating required to sister units
• Every other weekend required
• 13-week minimum contract length; longer contracts welcomed

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required (hard stop)
• Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
• Ability to correctly interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
• Skills required: IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line care, peripheral line care, cardiac monitoring and emergency response, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Epic experience preferred
• Must pass an EKG test prior to start

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of 36 hours on the unit, plus a full week of hospital orientation with required daily attendance
• Pre-start online modules required (approximately 8–10 hours for acute care roles), completed annually thereafter
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Candidates who have previously worked as permanent, PRN, or EP staff at Novant Health or New Hanover must wait 12 months before being eligible to apply
• No RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation; RTO cannot be requested or modified after signing
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved, provided it does not fall on a holiday; additional RTO requires facility approval
• Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years are highly preferred; pending references are acceptable
