Non-Certified Police Officer

General Description This police officer position provides security for Northern Virginia Community College, protecting personnel, property, and campus environments through crime prevention, patrol, and enforcement of state laws and college regulations. Duties and Tasks Patrol, provide protection/safety, and prevent crime. Investigate criminal activity, traffic and personal injury accidents, and other complaints. Enforce state traffic laws and promote traffic safety. Qualifications (KSAs) Demonstrated knowledge of Virginia Commonwealth laws, local ordinances, and college policies. Meet physical and mental job demands. Follow instructions accurately. Speak and understand English. Strong oral and written communication skills. Good computer skills. Ability to testify in court proceedings. Qualified to operate a state vehicle. Minimum Work Experience 21 years of age or older. United States citizen. Qualify for Police Officer appointment under Virginia DCJS guidelines. High school diploma or GED. Successfully pass background investigation. Licensed driver with a safe driving record. Pass a physical agility test before entering the Police Academy. Additional Considerations Bilingual capability preferred. Must reside in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia.
