Development Project Manager (Data Center Construction) This full‑time role leads and manages the design, pre‑construction, and construction activities on one or more data center projects at QTS Data Centers. The Project Manager works closely with facilities, contractors, designers, engineers, commissioning agents, vendors, and operations staff. Responsibilities Manage multiple campus projects and maintain updated budgets, schedules, and status reports. Create and communicate monthly development program and project status updates for executive review. Work with stakeholders to develop a master development program, including campus design solutions and capital budgets. Manage entitlement and permitting for each site. Implement and manage multi‑phased site development plans to meet time, budget, and quality goals. Write scopes of work for design, construction, and commissioning services and participate in procurement and cost estimating. Evaluate and price design, construction, and commissioning proposals; negotiate pricing and change orders. Coordinate submittals with site stakeholders and monitor project budget vs. overall budget. Establish schedules and manage teams to ensure on‑time completion. Approve monthly contractor pay applications and negotiate change orders. Develop site construction security procedures with the security team. Plan product deployment and communicate plans with QTS staff. Collaborate with sales engineers and product teams to support custom deal solutions. Represent QTS interests in OAC meetings and build relationships with key stakeholders. Assist in due diligence for potential new sites. Work with the internal development team to enhance project management processes and protocols. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience. Five or more years of professional experience in commercial construction practices, including Lump Sum, Construction Management @ Risk, and Design Build delivery methods. Experience managing mission‑critical data center facilities. Strong experience with MEP trade management. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint and Excel) for executive communication and budgeting. Ability to travel up to 50% of the time. MBA or Master’s in Engineering, Management, or related field desirable. Benefits and Compensation Salary range (Illinois): $121,440.00 – $185,714.14 per year (inclusive of potential bonuses and commissions).
