This position will be responsible for leading development of new products, supporting legacy products; sizing and selecting components; supporting strategic initiatives; creating associated documentation; and supporting product testing, qualification, and production.Job ResponsibilitiesLeading projects for the development and support of mechanical equipment, especially air conditioning, refrigeration, and air handling systems including heat exchangersEngineering project management supporting schedule development, cost, project resources and communication with internal/external customersEvaluate and recommend design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products or services. Investigate solutions to product or process problemsEngineering of HVAC&R equipment for component sizing, selection, and performance predictions. May include Mechanical Analysis, Aerodynamics/Fluids, Thermal, Fluid Systems, Mechanical Packaging, or othersSpecify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services. Participate in supplier scouting, evaluation and engagement activities in support of new projectsOn-time project execution by collaborating with engineering service firms and managing on-site or remote contingent resources effectivelySupport development of product designs, manufacturing drawings, bills of material and associated supporting documentation for fabrication and delivery of products and prototypesReview customer specifications and requirements in support of bids and proposals and develop compliant designs for product developmentDevelopment of technical documentation, manuals, and proceduresSupport testing, qualification, documentation and analysis of prototypes, products, systems or subsystemsJob Responsibilities Part IIResponsible for completion of projects on time, within budget and following design specificationsProvide budget, cost and schedule input for status of project assignmentsWork with manufacturing and cross functional teams to achieve project cost and manufacturing efficiency goalsCommunicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and customersContribute to team efforts by accomplishing results in a cooperative and supportive mannerAttend appropriate engineering, customer, or business meetingsMaintain and develop technical knowledge by conferring with technical specialists and suppliers; attending educational workshops; and reviewing professional publicationsAbility to work independently under supervision of others while reporting progress and statusSupport, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values and culture of the organizationQualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical fieldAt least 5 years of experience leading engineering projects especially new product development (NPD) or research & development (R&D) projects and providing status updates regarding technical progress, budgets, and scheduleEngineering or design experience with mechanical equipment, assemblies and components including machined components, welded structures and sheet metal partsComfortable and competent writing and creating technical documentationCompetent using MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint)Desired QualificationsExperience with HVAC&R (air conditioning, air handling and refrigeration) equipment and suppliers.Experience designing and drafting with PTC CREO, AutoCAD Mechanical 2D or similar CAD/PLM platformsBasic experience creating drawings (drafting) following ASME Y14.100 and associated documentation such as bill of materialsUnderstanding of ASHRAE test requirements and certification of Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Air Handling systemsExperience with refrigeration systems, turbomachinery equipment including induction motors, and metal additive manufacturingExperience conducting product design/technology reviews with customers and capturing product needsExperience designing defense products, especially for the US NavyU.S. Citizenship required.
