Position Overview The Science Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing an engaging, hands‑on STEM program that supports students’ academic, social, and emotional growth. Working with students in grades K–5 in a collaborative STEM lab environment, the teacher fosters inquiry, creativity, critical thinking, problem‑solving, and teamwork through experiential learning opportunities. The Science Teacher reports to the Rambam Day School/TBAM Innovation and Technology Director and serves as a member of the Innovation Team. Key Responsibilities In collaboration with the Rambam Day School/TBAM Innovation and Technology Director develops mastery and updates of Rambam Day School STEM Curriculum Maps and Scope and Sequence. Writes and submits weekly lesson plans to Rambam Day School/TBAM Innovation and Technology Director. Plan and prepare lesson plans and instructional activities by identifying clear teaching objectives and learning outcomes, with appropriate challenges and high expectations. Facilitate instruction in a hands‑on, collaborative STEM lab environment with lab reports, technology integration, and the scientific method, with an emphasis on problem‑solving. Differentiates instruction as needed (in content, process, product, and environment). Incorporates the following skills into their units of study: problem‑solving, creativity, inquiry skills, engineering‑design thinking, critical thinking, science and math skills, and collaboration. Use relevant technology to support instruction and hands‑on experiences. Encourage and monitor the progress of all students. Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress. Manage student behavior by establishing clear protocols and an optimum learning environment in and out of the classroom. Effectively communicate with parents and administration to maximize student growth. Participate in on‑site professional development, school meetings, and extracurricular programs as required. Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers. Ensure that school policies are reflected in daily practice. Continue to grow professionally, specifically in the STEM field. Keep updated with current pedagogy and implement changes to instruction as needed. Plan science‑related field trips. Cooperate with classroom teachers to integrate STEM instruction as needed. Image of a Child Demonstrate consistent respect for children by understanding their current level and potential, asking open‑ended questions, and seeing the child as competent and capable. Invite children into the learning process by encouraging them to be curious and take risks. Ensuring that students learn from mistakes and see those mistakes as learning opportunities. Learner Support Invests in the learners’ well‑being, health, and safety, physically, socially, and emotionally. Provides proficient classroom management routines and procedures to ensure a safe, orderly, positive, enjoyable, and productive learning environment. Differentiates instruction as needed (in content, process, product, and environment). Establishes, maintains, and documents frequent communication with parents about their child’s academic, social, and emotional progress and needs. This includes Conference Reports, phone calls, newsletters, emails, etc. Uses formative and summative assessment and documents student progress and achievement; assesses and analyzes student strengths and needs; designs and implements appropriate instruction to facilitate learning and growth. Facilitates problem‑solving, with a curious mind and critical thinking skills, showing a high degree of creative application in the implementation of data‑driven curriculum and practice. What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution Professional Teacher Certification (preferably) Transcripts indicating a minimum 12 semester hours in the field of science /STEM Relevant teaching experience Knowledge of relevant technology Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
