APEX Placement and Consulting has partnered with an exciting company in  Ossining, NY looking to add a  Medical Claims Assistant to their already amazing team. Their primary responsibility will be to accurately organize, process, and maintain medical claims while providing administrative and customer support to members, providers, and the claims department. • PT 1st shift opportunity – Monday to Friday from 8:30am-2pm
• Competitive hourly rate up from $21-$23/hr. depending on experience
• Temporary contract position

What  your day will look like:

• Open, sort, batch, and organize incoming medical claims for processing.
• Perform routine administrative duties, including preparing and distributing memos, tracking data, filing documents, and maintaining accurate records.
• Answer and screen telephone calls, mail inquiries, and visitors, providing information regarding member benefits and claims status when appropriate.
• Take detailed messages and route inquiries to the appropriate staff members.
• Provide administrative support to the Medical Claims Manager, Director, and other department staff as needed.
• Order and maintain office supplies and assist with general office organization.
• Serve as a backup for entering information from paper claims into computer systems.
• Assist with reviewing and processing clean medical claims.
• Contact healthcare providers to obtain additional information or documentation needed to process claims.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle member and claims information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
• Perform other administrative and claims-related duties as assigned.

What we are looking for:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
• 1–3 years of medical claims processing experience, preferably in a healthcare or insurance environment.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems, including ICD-9/ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Familiarity with medical and dental claim forms, including ADA, HCFA/CMS-1500, and UB-04.
• Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality requirements.
• Understanding of medical and dental insurance, benefits, and claims processes.
• Strong data-entry skills and the ability to learn and navigate various computer software systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel.
