Human Resources Specialist (Military)

Summary

This position is part of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for directing the execution and coordination of a variety of military personnel strength management programs.

Duties

As a HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (MILITARY) at the GSsome of your typical work assignments may include:

• Provides staff level advisory services to various levels within the agency.
• Conducts policy reviews to evaluate effectiveness of current
  policies and practices and to ensure consistency in their application.
• Maintains familiarity with career patterns and military specialties to ensure units are
  authorized the proper personnel for mission accomplishment.
• Serves as the Military HR team member on special projects or comprehensive
  studies to identify and examine problems or operating issues that may impact our
  military members within the SCO-Global.
• Analyzes and makes recommendations to various officials regarding impact on authorization concerning reorganization or change in qualification requirements for military personnel

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13 grade level if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:

• administering and advising on military awards and decorations (including Joint awards) personnel assignments transfers promotions separations and related military personnel policies and procedures. Reviews evaluates and processes military personnel actions for accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations; prepares awards decorations and certificates for approval and presentation; provides technical guidance to leadership and employees; and ensures personnel actions are completed in accordance with established laws regulations and organizational policies.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
