We drive innovation to ensure our cutting-edge solutions are helping to solve the biggest challenges in the semiconductor industry.The impact you’ll makeAs an Embedded HW/FW Engineer at Lam, you'll design complex systems, or products for our wafer fabrication equipment. You will define system specifications, requirements, parameters, and compatibility to integrate hardware, and firmware into a cohesive system. Identifying, analyzing, and resolving system design weaknesses combined with your multi-layered technical expertise you help shape the next generation of Lam initiatives.What you’ll doFirmware Design and DevelopmentDesign and architect software solutions for embedded systems, considering hardware limitations and performance requirements.Develop and implement software modules using C/C++ programming languages.Integrate with hardware components by writing device drivers and interfacing with peripherals such as sensors and actuators.Utilize real-time operating systems (RTOS) to manage system timing and task scheduling. Prototyping and TestingConduct comprehensive testing on prototypes, including electrical, functional, and environmental stress testing.Utilize debugging tools to identify and resolve software defects and hardware-related issues. Analyze system timing to ensure timing specific constraints are met.Integration and ValidationWork closely with hardware engineers to understand system requirements and ensure seamless software-hardware integration.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product specifications and project timelines. Document technical design specifications, code comments, and test reports.Develop and execute system-level validation tests to ensure the overall performance of the embedded system meets requirements.Documentation and SupportCreate detailed technical documentation, design & functional specifications.Troubleshoot FW & HW issues that arise during development or deployment.Who we’re looking forAssociates or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering / Science, or a realted field with a minimum of 2 years of related work experience.Familiarity with various embedded components, their peripherals, and supporting hardware components (e.g. MCU, FPGA, CPLD, ADC, DAC).Knowledge of communication protocols like SPI. I2C, UART.Proficiency in C programming language.Familiarity with RTOS concepts and development.Experience working with various instrumentation equipment, such as oscilloscope, DMM, power supplies, logic analyzer, etc.Preferred qualificationsStrong understanding of electronic design principles, including analog and digital circuits, power management, and signal integrity. Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence, Allegro, and DX Designer. Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet, EtherCAT, and CAN. Familiarity with Verilog or VHDL. Experience with embedded Linux development for more complex systems.Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose hardware or firmware issues and identify root causes.
