Guided by our values of respect, integrity and accountability, we create a workplace where everyone can thrive and succeed.We have an immediate opening for a Facility Operations Manager at the new Victory Heights Arena and Sports Performance Center (ASPC) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. The 3,600 seat, multi-purpose arena is the new home of the University of Pittsburgh's Wrestling, Volleyball, Gymnastics and Dance teams. In addition to sport competitions, the facility will also host a wide variety of events including ceremonies, concerts, exhibitions, camps and conferences.The Facility Operations Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the Petersen Events Center and ASPC operate safely, efficiently, and at the highest standard. Serving as the primary point of contact for facility operations, this position oversees the day-to-day functionality, maintenance, and overall readiness of the buildings.Working closely with the Director of Operations, the Facility Operations Manager coordinates facility logistics and supports the successful execution of daily activities and major events. The role offers a dynamic opportunity to work with a wide range of internal and external partners, including building engineers, contractors, inspectors, designers, administrators, and event personnel.The Facility Operations Manager also serves as a visible and trusted presence throughout the facilities, escorting vendors and other authorized personnel as needed and ensuring building-related needs are addressed promptly and professionally.During large-scale events, the Facility Operations Manager serves as the official facility liaison, working in real time with building engineers and event teams to respond to immediate operational needs and help ensure a safe, seamless experience for everyone in the building.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage a team of four Building Engineers including timesheet approvals, time-off requests, weekly scheduling and regular meetings with the lead building engineerEnter and prioritize work orders within the TMA System including corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance and special departmental requestsSource, order and receive all repair parts as needed as well as any necessary building supplies, office supplies and durable goods such as tools and equipmentOn event days, provide any necessary support for the event staff. Review event riders in advance to be sure that any engineering and building needs are fulfilledOversee the Housekeeping Manager and assure that the building is maintained in a presentable condition. This includes regular cleaning of the team practice areas.Function as building point of contact for vendors, contractors, service providers and drivers as well as all tenants including athletics, foodservice and merchandisingEssential Skills and AbilitiesEnsure that the building and practices remain in compliance with OSHA, NFPA and all other applicable laws, regulations, procedures and university guidelinesMaintain the ability to work independently while demonstrating good judgement, solid work ethics, schedule flexibility and effective communication skillsSchedule all necessary yearly inspections and preventative maintenance visits for building assets such as fire protection, telescopic seating and scissor liftsSustain an effective, courteous and professional working relationship with clients, students, employees, patrons, staff, service providers, vendors and contractorsHave the flexibility to work extended or irregular hours including nights, weekends, holidays and emergency recalls as requiredManage and distribute the monthly building schedule and serve as the main point of contact for all building outages, closures and any disruption to the scheduleQualificationsPossess a High School Diploma, GED or college degreeDemonstrate comfort in the use of forklifts, pallet jacks, lifts and laddersExperience in the use of scheduling software such as INFOR or WEB TMA is a plusBasic ability to read and understand drawings, schematics and building blueprintsWorking knowledge of shipping and receiving, dock operations or logisticsCombination of training and experience in building and event managementAbility or willingness to learn A/V fundamentals in supporting live eventsComputer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe AcrobatPossess or acquire a CPR card which must be renewed every two yearsCompensationCommensurate with experienceMedical, Dental, Vision and Life insurancePaid vacation, sick days and personal days401K contribution availableShort and long-term disabilityComplimentary parking passThe knowledge, skills, requirements and demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
