Job Description The purpose and scope of this role is to provide the learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and community. Adjunct faculty are hired part‑time on a semester‑by‑semester basis, contingent upon institutional needs. Classes are offered at various times and locations during the academic year. Adjuncts may teach up to five classes per academic year. Essential Job Functions Teach music courses at a variety of times and locations. Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of material. Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner. Utilize a course syllabus for each course following institutional guidelines. Meet with and advise students either before or after class, by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods. Evaluate students to measure progress toward course objectives and inform them in a timely manner. Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required. Perform other reasonable, related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Mastery of course content. Demonstrated leadership skills; collaborative, teamwork‑oriented style. Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a wide variety of people. Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, adult learning methodologies including collaborative learning, learning communities, and distance learning. Physical Abilities The work is sedentary, with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, and potentially driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required. Work Schedule and Conditions Equipment includes a PC workstation on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment, and any specialized equipment standard in the discipline/industry. Interface with internal and external contacts as needed. Work is performed in a climate‑controlled classroom/lab environment with minimal safety hazards. Hours vary by class time; instructors must be available to students outside scheduled class instruction. Required Qualifications Master's degree or higher in music, or a master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in music. Compensation Salary: $55.44 per contact hour.
