Food Service

Under direction of the Director of Food Service or designee, perform preparation/service duties at assigned school; keep work area clean and orderly, store food and equipment in accordance with sanitation standards and State regulations.

Essential Functional Areas Of Responsibilities

Program Accountability

• Ensures accountability of recorded documentation for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Ensures compliance with school/school district mission and/or vision statements.

Sanitation, Safety, And Security

• Provides an environment conducive to protecting the health and well-being of the school's children through high levels of sanitation standards.
• Provides a safe environment for performance of work.
• Provides leadership to ensure a secure work environment during an emergency or crisis.

Equipment Use And Care

• Establishes responsibility for all foodservice equipment through proper use and care.

Procurement

• Maintains inventory of items needed for meal service (cereal, condiments, etc.) following established procedures.
• Ensure that proper receiving procedures and storage techniques are followed for food and supplies.

Food Production

• Maintains high standards of control for quality food production and distribution.
• Maintains records that reflect an accurate report of food received, food prepared and food discarded.

Recordkeeping

• Ensures all records and supporting documentation are maintained in accordance with district guidelines to comply with federal, state, and local regulations and policies.

Other

• Performs and manages job-related proficiency with the highest ethical integrity.
• Performs and manages to ensure school meals are served in pleasant facilities and by a courteous staff.
• Performs and manages with an overall nature that is committed to the goals and visions of the school district.
• Performs and manages appropriate communication skills with the customers served and school district employees.

Able To

• Lift/Push/Pull up to 50#
• Meet demanding schedules and time lines/Work effectively under rush conditions.
• Work independently, following established parameters, with minimal supervision.

Training/Experience

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Previous foodservice experience, preferred.

Licenses

Current Illinois Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification or Illinois Food Handler Certification, preferred. Must be willing to obtain.

Working Conditions

General kitchen environment; subject to temperature extremes, standing for long periods, lifting heavy objects and bending and stooping, loud noises. Subject to slips, falls, burns, and cuts.
