Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS

Purpose: The Office of Career & Life Design (OCLD) supports graduate students and postdoctoral scholars in exploring and pursuing careers across academia, industry, nonprofit, and government. Graduate Career Consultants are embedded partners in the work of the office that contribute meaningfully to career education, employer and community engagement, communications, assessment, and more.

Responsibilities:

• Workshop & Program Support: Support the planning, facilitation, and follow-up for career programming, workshops, and events. Contribute to the design and improvement of program materials and help ensure a positive experience for graduate student and postdoc participants.
• Outreach & Engagement: Connect with graduate students, postdocs, campus partners, alumni, and other stakeholders to promote programs, build relationships, and support awareness of OCLD resources and services.
• Resource Development: Create and maintain career resources, guides, and online content that support graduate students and postdocs across disciplines and career paths.
• Team Collaboration: Contribute to a collaborative and supportive office culture by engaging actively with the OCLD team.

Project Areas: Graduate Career Consultants contribute to one or more project areas based on office needs and individual skills and interests. You will have the opportunity to indicate the areas you are interested in when responding to application questions.

Current project areas on the team include:

• Career Education: career exploration, job search strategy, peer coaching, and workshop facilitation
• Teaching & Academic Development: teaching preparation, academic job search, and research communication
• Employer & Industry Integration: alumni and employer outreach, industry research, and community partnerships
• Assessment & Evaluation: survey design, data analysis, and program impact reporting
• Communications & Community Engagement: social media, newsletters, content creation, and marketing
• Event Planning & Community Building: event logistics, coordination, and community programming

Required Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines

• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset

• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects

• Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite

• Ability to attend regular team meetings and engage with in-person events as needed

• This position is specifically for graduate students only

Preferred Qualifications (may vary based on project needs)

• Experience in your area(s) of interest (see above)

• Familiarity with career development, higher education, or student services

• Experience with tools such as Canvas, Qualtrics, Power BI, Tableau, Canva, or similar platforms

• Background or interest in STEM, social sciences, humanities, or professional fields

• Experience with content creation, event planning, data analysis, or community outreach

Salary Range

$22 per hour at 10 hours per week

Working Conditions

May work around standard office conditions.
