Industrial Wastewater Treatment Operator A day in this role
As the steady hand behind our treatment systems, you’ll start each shift by walking the plant, scanning gauges, checking tanks, and confirming chemical feed rates. You’ll pull samples, run quick tests, and fine-tune the process so effluent stays within permit limits. When an alarm chirps or a pump sounds off, you’ll investigate, adjust, and document. Between rounds, you’ll keep your area orderly, stage chemicals safely, and coordinate with maintenance on anything that needs attention.
Schedule- Thursday: 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Friday: 10:30 PM – 11:00 AM
- Saturday: 10:30 PM – 11:00 AM
- Sunday: 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM
All training will be done on 1st Shift
What you’ll do- Run and oversee treatment equipment: pumps, tanks, filters, chemical dosing/feed systems, and related machinery.
- Collect routine samples, perform basic analyses, and record results to verify regulatory and site standards are met.
- Track chemical inventories and process chemistry; make precise adjustments as conditions change.
- Inspect for leaks, unusual noise/vibration, or safety hazards and escalate maintenance needs quickly.
- Complete accurate logs, reports, and operating records every shift.
- Handle, store, and dispose of chemicals and wastes in line with safety and environmental procedures.
- Keep work areas clean, orderly, and hazard-free.
- Support preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and general plant operations.
- Follow all safety rules, PPE requirements, and environmental compliance procedures.
- Background in wastewater/water treatment, chemical processing, environmental services, or industrial manufacturing preferred (not required).
- Self-directed mindset to thrive during overnight hours.
- Comfort working around chemicals, industrial equipment, and wastewater systems.
- Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment.
- Ability to read gauges, meters, logs, and operating instructions.
- Strong attention to detail with solid documentation habits.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working effectively in an industrial setting.
