Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Inpatient Transplant Advanced Practice Provider (APP). This inpatient APP covers all transplant programs (cadaveric kidney, living donor kidney, liver and pancreas) and oversees and supports the residents on service as well as provides support to the attendings on rounds.
The Rush Transplant Program provides innovative, patient-centered care for patients with end-stage organ disease while advancing education, research, and quality outcomes. As part of Rush University Medical Center's nearly 700-bed academic quaternary care center, the inpatient transplant APP practices in a high-acuity environment across the full continuum of care-from evaluation and surgery through recovery and long-term follow-up. APPs collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding patient outcomes. Rush is consistently recognized among the nation's leading hospitals, including Vizient's top-ranked quality hospitals, the U.S. News & World Report Honor Roll, and Newsweek's top U.S. hospitals. The transplant program is also engaged in leading-edge clinical research and offers among the highest kidney transplant survival rates in the Chicago area, while supporting robust residency and fellowship training programs across medical and surgical specialties.
Position & service specifications:
• Maintain consistently availability for providers to cover calls, labs and medications
• Navigation of urgent concerns and evaluations for admission
• Assist transplant nurses with medical decisions during admission
• Immunosuppression maintenance and hospital care for all transplant patients
• Provide ongoing care plans for all transplant patients
• Provide ongoing education to Rush surgical residents on transplant rotation
• Develop discharge summaries for all patients admitted to the unit
• Coordinate care at discharge (home health, PT/OT, medication reconciliation, clinic follow up)
• Input pre- and post-transplant orders for medications and diagnostic studies
• Participate in weekly meetings pertaining to transplant candidate selection along with quality meetings
Preferred Qualifications:
• Applicants with previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in organ transplant or related specialty is preferred, not required. Relevant RN experience may be considered.
• APRN Candidates will require Acute Care Certification.

Rush offers competitive total compensation that includes base pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. The total pay range shown reflects the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, specialty; relevant experience and training; and other business and organizational factors. This total pay range is for a full-time, 1.0 FTE employee, and includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role. Additional compensation may include premium pay rates, sign-on bonuses, and relocation allowances. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package.

Position & service specifications:
- Practice in a nationally ranked academic medical center with strong quality and research initiatives
- Practice alongside seven transplant surgeons and three fellow inpatient APPs
- Mon-Fri, 8-hour shift schedule; no weekends, holidays or call requirement
- Report directly to the Transplant Service Line Lead APP
- 100% Inpatient
- Care for patients across kidney, liver, pancreas, and living donor transplant programs
- Work closely with divisions including Transplant Surgery, Hepatology, Nephrology, Critical Care, Hospital Medicine, Infectious Disease, Interventional Radiology, Anesthesiology, Nutrition, Pharmacy, Case Management, and Rehabilitation Services.

Position Requirements:
Nurse Practitioner:
- Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process
- Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing practice with clinical specialty appropriate to position
- Current certification by American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP)
- CPR and ACLS certifications
- Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Physician Assistant/Associate or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process
- Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate Program
- Current certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
- CPR and ACLS certifications
