Overview Operates GIBBS computer programming to generate CNC programs used to control CNC machine tools that drill, mill, bore, etc. Responsible for analyzing drawings and specifications, computing required data and creating tool paths, setting up machines, verifying programs, and ensuring error‑free parts for production. Responsibilities Analyze drawings/specifications to determine program input data such as hole sizes, tool sizes, reference points, and machine cutting paths. Calculate starting point coordinates, sizes of fixture panels, and number of fixtures per panel. Use 3D models to extract part geometry and create tool paths with GIBBS CAM. Manually program the machine, enter tool size, feed, speed rates, and starting point coordinates. Name programs using part numbers whenever possible. Set up machines, cut fixtures, and produce the first part to verify program performance and correct dimensions. Submit the first article to Quality Control and make adjustments based on CMM reports. Run and complete the entire production job when necessary. Ensure all programs and fixtures are error‑free so that a CNC operator can run the parts. Create blueprints with instructions for future CNC operators to set up and run production jobs. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of related experience or a combination of education and experience as described. CNC Machinist Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school. Minimum 2 years of experience in CNC machining and 5 years of CNC programming using computer software. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and instructions. Effective communication skills with co‑workers and other employees. Mathematical skills to calculate geometry, angles, bolt circles, arcs, speeds, and feeds. Ability to work in metrics and convert to decimal equivalents when necessary. Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and interpret diverse instructions. Location Lancaster, PA Physical Demands Requires standing, walking, using hands to move, handle, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Requires vision including close, distance, color, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Work Environment Exposure to moving mechanical parts, occasional vibration, moderate noise level.
