SUMMARY Sets Up and Operates CNC Machining Centers to produce parts to Customer Specifications. Loads and runs as well as modifies CNC programs. De‑Burrs parts and cleans as time allows. Inputs simple programs at the operator panel and loads and off‑loads production programs. Creates fixtures for production parts as necessary. Performs routine maintenance on machining centers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Using written and verbal instructions and working from blueprints, set up CNC machining centers for single parts and production runs. Submit first article parts to QC and analyze inspection reports to adjust programs and set‑ups to produce acceptable parts. Operate band saws and simple tools such as hex wrenches, screw drivers and soft hammers; change dull tooling and adjust machine offsets. Check part dimensions using micrometers, gage pins, vernier calipers, drop indicators, comparators, thread gages and other precision tools; record measurements on the part traveler. De‑burr parts to customer specifications and clean them as necessary. Maintain a clean work environment. Provide routine maintenance on CNC machining centers. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or experience: High school diploma or GED. Trade school or apprenticeship program preferred or minimum of 2 years’ experience in a metalworking CNC environment. Language skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form with co‑workers and other employees. Ability to draft work instructions using Microsoft Word. Mathematical skills: Ability to calculate machine offsets using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Good understanding of geometry and ability to calculate angles. Ability to calculate feeds and speeds as they relate to the material being cut. Reasoning ability: Ability to solve practical problems and complex fixturing problems. Ability to apply common sense when using equipment and making decisions. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel. Occasionally required to sit, stand for extended periods, and lift or move up to 50 pounds and 70 pounds with assistance. Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, occasional vibration, and moderate noise levels.
