About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year required, preference for 2 years in Med/Surg License: Valid Michigan RN License required (pending license acceptable with ETA) Certifications: BLS required, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Must be willing to work with a variety of staff, including RNs, LPNs, and Techs. Must float to other Med Surg units as needed. Must work every other weekend. Must be available for the first two weeks of orientation. Flexibility required for holiday coverage; RTO during holidays must accommodate staffing demands. Description: This position requires the ability to provide care to a variety of patient types. The unit cares for patients with general medical diagnoses specializing in gastrointestinal, urological, and gynecological surgeries. Staffing ratios are typically 1:5-6 for nights, with some flex to 8 patients depending on unit needs. RNs will be paired with LPNs for support during these instances. The unit collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, and Social Services. Patient age groups include adults and geriatrics. Daily census averages around 30 patients. Must be knowledgeable in managing a range of conditions including neurological disorders, orthopedic fractures, and vascular surgeries. Experience with specific healthcare equipment and procedures is essential. A willingness to float to different Med/Surg units is required, typically once per week. Applicant must possess a strong foundation in both patient care and teamwork.
