Assistant Teacher

Tiny Steps Learning Center – Union Ave Location, Paterson, NJ.
Pay: $16–$18 per hour, based on experience, education, credentials, and performance.
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday.

Tiny Steps Learning Center is seeking a caring, reliable, and energetic Assistant Teacher to support our early childhood classrooms at our Union Ave location in Paterson, NJ .

This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with young children, works well as part of a team, and can help create a safe, clean, structured, and nurturing classroom environment.

The Assistant Teacher will work closely with the Lead Teacher to support daily routines, classroom activities, supervision, and children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.

Responsibilities:

• Support the Lead Teacher with age-appropriate lessons and classroom activities.
• Supervise children and help ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
• Assist with daily routines, including meals, nap time, diapering, toileting, transitions, and classroom cleanup.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom.
• Encourage children’s development through positive guidance and interaction.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Communicate professionally with parents and team members.
• Follow all Tiny Steps Learning Center policies and NJ childcare licensing requirements.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in a childcare, preschool, or early childhood setting preferred.
• CDA or coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.
• Must meet NJ childcare clearance requirements, including background checks.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
