Registered Nurse

A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit. The RN promotes their own development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education supported by a Practice Governance framework. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Applying the caring processes of an established Model of Care, the RN has the responsibility to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comforts, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies their educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments as warranted by patient condition. The RN demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions.
• Development & Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care. The RN collaborates with the patient/family and interdisciplinary services. The RN utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization/patient/family.
• Evaluation: Monitors and documents response to clinical interventions.
• Education: Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient/family needs. The RN ensures appropriate care and treatment services are provided during their stay and at discharge.
• Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. The RN functions as a mentor/preceptor and facilitates teamwork. The RN identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement. The RN participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implements practice changes. The RN complies with regulatory standards and participates in the Practice Governance model.
