School-Based Physical Therapist - Durham, NC

A dynamic opportunity awaits for a dedicated Physical Therapist eager to make an impact within schools across the Research Triangle area of North Carolina. This contract position provides the chance to work on-site, collaborating with students of diverse ages and abilities to support their physical well-being and educational access. As a full-time team member, you'll travel to approximately 5-9 schools, with each location requiring varying frequency of visits-some as few as 1-2 times per month. The caseload typically consists of 30-40 students, and assignments may evolve according to district needs.


Key Qualifications:

• Holds an active Physical Therapy (PT) license
• Previous experience as a PT in a school setting (required)
• Confident working with students across elementary, middle, and high school age groups
• Ability to manage a flexible, multi-campus schedule and prioritize student needs
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Willingness to complete time-sensitive credentialing requirements

Role Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct PT services to students in compliance with individual education plans (IEPs)
• Collaborate closely with special education teams, teachers, and families
• Document assessments, interventions, progress notes, and outcomes accurately
• Participate in regular interdisciplinary meetings to adjust supports as students' needs evolve
• Travel to schools within central and north-central Durham, following designated bell schedules
• Maintain compliance with district and regulatory guidelines

Enjoy working a 37.5-hour week (7.5 hours per day) with set schedules aligning to school hours. Strategic support and prescreen interviews will be scheduled with flexibility to accommodate your availability between 9-11 a.m. or 2-3 p.m. EST.
