Social Media Editor

Program Cosmopolitan and Seventeen’s social channels daily, primarily Instagram and TikTok, with secondary support for X and Snapchat Respond quickly and creatively to pop culture, breaking celebrity news, internet trends, and the broader zeitgeist with distinctive, on-brand points of view Concept, shoot, edit, and publish social-first short-form video for TikTok and Instagram Reels Execute social strategy around cover launches, feature packages, brand tentpoles, and other priority editorial initiatives Capture behind-the-scenes content at Cosmopolitan and Seventeen shoots Collaborate with talent and external representatives to produce original social-only interviews and content Cover live events and awards shows in real time, on location and remotely Analyze weekly and monthly platform performance and translate insights into recommendations Collaborate with Cosmopolitan and Seventeen editorial teams and Hearst’s central video team Contribute perspective on emerging platforms, formats, and audience behaviors Requirements 3+ years of experience in digital media, social media, video content creation, or a related field Demonstrated success growing social accounts and creating high-performing content across at least two major social platforms Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, X, Snapchat, and emerging platforms Hands-on experience shooting and editing short-form video for TikTok, Instagram Reels, or similar platforms in a professional media environment Excellent copywriting and editorial instincts Ability to create engaging captions, headlines, and sharp takes reflecting a distinct brand voice Confidence appearing on camera in short-form video and vodcast formats Comfort capturing content in fast-moving environments Proficiency with mobile video production and editing tools Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, or similar creative tools preferred Experience with Sprinklr, Dash Hudson, Sprout Social, or similar social publishing and analytics platforms preferred Strong curiosity about pop culture, celebrity news, internet culture, and social trends Ability to work from the New York City office 4 days per week Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in social media strategy and video content creation, with a strong focus on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Proven ability to analyze performance metrics and adapt content to engage audiences effectively.
