Part-Time Faculty - Lecturers in Early Childhood Education The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) invites applications for Part‑time Faculty – Lecturers in Early Childhood Education for the 2026–2027 academic year. UMF serves a diverse population of traditional and non‑traditional students across a range of liberal arts and professional programs. To meet the needs of these learners, UMF delivers general education and degree‑specific coursework through a variety of modalities, including face‑to‑face, synchronous, and asynchronous instruction. In this role, faculty will teach a wide range of courses in UMF’s Early Childhood Education Program. Courses may be delivered in‑person, online, or through hybrid course delivery. Course assignments may include, but are not limited to, ECH 256 Creative Arts for the Young Child, ECH 384 Developing Science Concepts and Thinking in Young Children, ECH 336 Development of Mathematical Concepts and Thinking in Young Children, and ECH 440 Children, Families, and Communities. Salary & Benefits Part‑time faculty members are compensated on a per‑credit‑hour basis, commensurate with qualifications and experience, in accordance with the Maine Part‑Time Faculty Association (PATFA) contract. Teaching opportunities in future semesters are based on course funding, performance, need, and availability. Continuation is subject to the terms of the PATFA bargaining agreement and other applicable University policies. Eligible part‑time faculty members may elect certain benefits provided by the University of Maine System. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Curriculum Development: Design and maintain syllabi aligned with departmental expectations and established course blueprints. Instructional Delivery: Lead lesson planning and facilitate instruction via Brightspace LMS or other instructional software. Because UMF utilizes various instructional modalities (including synchronous and asynchronous online instruction), instructors must have consistent access to a reliable computer with a webcam, microphone, and robust high‑speed internet to effectively deliver coursework via the Brightspace LMS. Student Support: Maintain regular correspondence, hold office hours, and provide timely grading and feedback. Professional Collaboration: Attend course coordination meetings with the Associate Dean of Graduate Education and complete required orientations and trainings. Modality Note: Courses are offered predominantly online, utilizing both synchronous and asynchronous formats. Required Qualifications Education: Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field. Experience: A minimum of two years of Early Childhood teaching experience. Preferred Qualifications Teaching Experience: At least one year of in‑person, online, and/or hybrid teaching experience at the college level.
