Work Environment

Located within a hospital setting, you will enjoy a dynamic work environment that is both supportive and engaging. The role requires a hands-on approach to patient care in a multidisciplinary team, where you will work closely with licensed Physical Therapists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. The position is structured as an 8-hour shift, Monday through Friday, and is focused entirely on onsite patient interactions, allowing for consistent, face-to-face engagement with the patients you help.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute individualized treatment plans established by the supervising Physical Therapist, including a variety of modalities such as therapeutic exercises, manual therapies, and neuromuscular rehabilitation.
• Instruct patients on the use of therapeutic equipment and the execution of therapeutic exercises to ensure safe and effective participation in their care.
• Monitor and assess patient responses to therapy, adjusting treatments as needed based on ongoing evaluations and input from the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Maintain accurate patient records, including care and billing documentation, ensuring timely sign-off by the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Enhance patient experience as a liaison between patients and Physical Therapists, addressing any patient concerns or questions regarding their treatment journey.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training activities to remain current in physical therapy techniques and practices.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned that support patient care and departmental objectives.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from orthopedic surgeries, sports injuries, and those seeking rehabilitation support as part of their cancer treatment journey. Through personalized, evidence-based approaches, you will help individuals regain function, improve mobility, and enhance their quality of life. Your role is central to fostering both physical and emotional resilience among our patients, helping them through sometimes challenging recoveries.

Qualifications

• Valid Associate's Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program is mandatory.
• A minimum of one (1) year of experience working as a Physical Therapist Assistant in a clinical or hospital setting is required.
• Current licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the state of New York.
• Certification in Lymphedema Therapy (CLT) is preferred, or a willingness to obtain this certification is highly encouraged.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in oncology rehabilitation is strongly preferred, as we focus heavily on providing specialized care to cancer patients.
• Familiarity with therapeutic modalities and a background in manual therapy techniques will be highly advantageous.
• Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills and a compassionate demeanor when interacting with patients.

Compensation and Benefits
