Shift Lead

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide customer sales assistance and lead the team in driving sales, service, and customer experience initiatives to achieve store performance goals. Prioritize, assign, and delegate daily goals, tasks, and assignments to the associate team and ensure proper completion when acting as Manager on Duty. Maintain a high level of professionalism and positive attitude in the workplace through verbal, written, and email communication. Partner with the Store Manager to plan and execute community events and develop business relationships with rescue agencies. Maintain a safe and clean store environment; clean pet enclosures, feed animals, and support the fish system. Assist with restocking merchandise, moving products from stockroom to sales floor, and heavy lifting up to 55lbs as needed. Ensure accurate physical inventories, track shrink goals, and follow proper opening and closing procedures. Communicate concerns or gaps in performance to Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager in a timely manner. Support new‑hire training, merchandising guidelines, and community events. Perform any other duties assigned by store management. Qualifications and Experience Minimum 1year of retail or customer service experience. Enjoy working with and around animals. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle preferred. Physical Demands and Working Conditions Heavy lifting up to 55lbs several times during a shift. Standing, moving around, and working on the selling floor most of the time. Active listening required during customer and employee communication. Temperature‑stable work environment; occasional work alone. Accidental injuries from pets possible; common injuries include slips, trips, falls, and strains/sprains from lifting.
