Paint Engineer

MagTech is seeking a Paint Engineer to support defense and aerospace manufacturing operations. This role will serve as the coating subject matter expert (SME), leading paint and coating process development, quality improvements, compliance initiatives, and manufacturing support.

Compensation: Competitive - $130,000 +
Location: Oakland County
Type: Direct Hire
Travel: Up to 10%

Responsibilities

• Lead and support coating process development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with customer, military, and industry coating specifications and standards.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to improve coating quality and reduce production costs.
• Support paint and coating operations, including surface preparation, application, inspection, and process validation.
• Investigate coating defects, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Support APQP activities and review drawings, contracts, and customer requirements.
• Conduct internal, supplier, and customer coating process audits.
• Provide technical guidance and training related to coating processes and standards.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of coatings, paint, or finishing process experience in manufacturing.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software.

Preferred

• Experience with Chemical Agent Resistant Coatings (CARC).
• NACE certification.
• Experience in defense, aerospace, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.

Additional Information

• Must be able to pass required background screening and drug testing.
• Occasional travel may be required.
