Permanent Substitute Teacher

Position: Permanent Substitute Teacher (Full‑Time Faculty Employee) – FLSA Exempt. Location: The Independence School. The position is a 10‑month role following the academic calendar. Role Overview: A student‑centered educator who maintains consistent education when other teachers are unavailable. Works closely with school leaders and the Academic Administrative Coordinator. Duties and Responsibilities Perform teaching duties for ages three through eighth grade across subjects including PE, music, art, world language, math, language arts, etc. Coordinate classroom placement and tasks with school leaders and the Academic Administrative Coordinator. Lead students to live the mission fully and inspire community respect, responsibility, and integrity. Actively participate in school life and pursue professional development. Support school and teachers on days not assigned to a classroom. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree; understanding of child development. Lifelong learner who enhances skills using technology. Excellent time‑management, ability to switch between tasks, prioritize work. Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills. Strong organizational and planning skills. Aptitude to learn new systems, software, and platforms including student information systems. Comfortable with Google Workspace, Google Classroom, and a Windows/Chrome OS environment. High level of confidentiality and discretion. Employment type: Full‑time faculty employee; exempt under FLSA.
