Together, the departments work to enhance the health and well‑being of students’ bodies, minds and lives in support of their academic and personal goals. University Health Services (UHS) is an accredited on‑campus medical facility dedicated to addressing the varied healthcare needs of UT Austin students. UHS provides comprehensive services, including general medical care, public health education and specialty clinics. Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC) is an accredited on‑campus mental health facility dedicated to supporting the well‑being of UT Austin students. CMHC offers a range of services, including assessment and referral, group and individual counseling, psychiatry and well‑being services. The Longhorn Wellness Center is the health promotion unit servicing University Health Services and Counseling and Mental Health Center. Staff focuses on educating students about priority college health issues by hosting workshops and events, creating new tools, and collaborating with the campus community to enhance overall well‑being. Position Overview General Counseling and Mental Health Center is seeking to fill one (1) position as the coordinator of our Mindful Eating Program. Must be licensed as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Psychologist. This position will provide short‑term individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, prevention, and outreach services to undergraduate and graduate students with an emphasis on supporting students who present with disordered eating and/or body image difficulties. Responsibilities Provide short‑term individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, prevention and outreach services to undergraduate and graduate students with emphasis on students who present with disordered eating and/or body image difficulties. Conduct initial assessments of students’ presenting concerns and maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation of all service contacts as required by center policies and procedures. Develop and implement programmatic interventions to address the psycho‑social mental health needs of students. Identify group assignment preferences and propose/develop new groups. Initiate advertising, recruitment, and screening for groups. Facilitate groups in accordance with service agreement. Demonstrate knowledge about group counseling and/or seek appropriate training. Review client records to determine progress, effectiveness, and appropriateness of treatment services offered, maintaining current, accurate, and timely clinical documentation in accordance with state and federal law, professional ethics, and CMHC policies. Provide clinical consultation to others on an as‑needed basis and seek consultation when appropriate. Provide urgent care services as necessary to students. Work collaboratively and cooperatively with other mental health professionals on CMHC's multidisciplinary staff and other university departments and organizations. Develop linkages with key contacts of the designated population or issue for the purpose of developing and implementing programmatic interventions which generate substantial participation by students. Provide clinical training and supervision to social work and psychology interns, as well as pre‑doctoral psychology practicum students, including individual supervision of interns, practicum students, or psychiatric residents; individual supervision of group co‑leaders; supervise interns' supervision of practicum students; co‑lead training seminars; offer and supervise preceptorships and apprenticeships for interns; participate on training‑related committees; participate in training activities during the orientation period; and provide timely signature on clinical documentation and communication with supervisor of relevant issues. Attend and participate in departmental and division meetings and staff development programs as assigned. Participate in the prevention and outreach team meetings by contributing new ideas, engaging in problem solving and seeking better ways to impact the mental health needs of students. Comply with all CMHC and UT policies, procedures, and guidelines. May be assigned other relevant duties as applicable. Education Requirements Master’s Degree in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or another degree which meets eligibility requirement in Texas for licensure. Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology or another degree acceptable to the Texas Board of Examiners of Psychology. Required Qualifications Licensed to practice independently as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Psychologist, or the equivalent from another state; must be able to obtain licensure in Texas within one year if licensed in another state. Experience in a high‑demand outpatient or inpatient mental health setting. Experience providing culturally competent treatment to a varied client population. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Two years’ experience providing services to college‑aged persons with disordered eating and/or body image difficulties. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge and experience in working with serious mental illness. At least three years of significant experience in providing short‑term individual counseling and crisis intervention services to a culturally varied population. At least three years of demonstrated experience in high‑demand outpatient or inpatient mental health settings. At least three years of experience providing crisis intervention, triage, care coordination, and brief therapy to young adults and/or college students. Experience working in a college/university counseling center or outpatient mental health setting. Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team of mental health providers. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with campus personnel, such as professionals in academic affairs and other student services providers. Demonstrated ability to work within a large system, and to participate and collaborate effectively in a large mental health services agency. Demonstrated ability to maintain a flexible yet highly organized working style. Licensed as an LPC/LCSW/Psychologist for a minimum of two years. Salary Range LCSW/LPC: $82,860 + depending on qualifications. PhD: $95,400 + depending on qualifications. Working Conditions May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Exposure to chemicals and commercial items typically found in office, medical clinics, and building repairs/maintenance.
