Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Description

Job Summary:

Provides comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care to obstetric patients, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes throughout the perinatal period. Utilizes clinical expertise to assess, plan, and implement evidence-based interventions while educating patients and families on pregnancy, labor, and postpartum care.

Responsibilities:

• Perform thorough head-to-toe assessments and ongoing reassessments on laboring patients following facility policies.
• Assess and manage pain effectively, employing appropriate evaluation techniques and educating patients on pain control options.
• Develop, implement, and revise individualized care plans based on patient responses and clinical findings.
• Administer medications accurately, adhering to the five rights, and monitor for adverse effects.
• Educate patients and families on labor progress, postpartum recovery, and neonatal care, tailoring teaching to individual needs.
• Document all patient interactions, assessments, and interventions in compliance with current standards and policies.

Qualifications:

• Possess at least 1 year of labor and delivery experience.
• Hold current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications through AHA, active at the time of employment.
• Have an active Ohio or compact state license.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
• Demonstrate proficiency in technical skills, manual procedures, and equipment operation.
• Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate within an interdisciplinary team.
