Mechanical Engineer

We're hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer in Wood Dale, IL. Sterling Engineering is partnering with a longtime client of more than 25 years to hire a Mechanical Design Engineer for a direct hire opportunity. Our client is a stable, mid-sized manufacturer known for developing custom-engineered electrical products and investing in the growth of early career engineers. Location: Wood Dale, IL Schedule: Full-Time Salary: $68,000 to $80,000 annually What You'll Do: Design new mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks Create detailed manufacturing drawings with GD&T and proper tolerancing Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) Support prototype development, testing, and design validation Work directly with manufacturing to optimize designs for production Perform engineering calculations related to material selection, strength, and thermal performance Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and maintain engineering documentation Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve existing product designs Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering 0 to 3 years of engineering experience Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher Previous engineering internship or co-op is required Understanding of GD&T, manufacturing drawings, and mechanical design principles Experience with machining, fabrication, or assembly processes is preferred Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Why Join?
