Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to implement patient rehabilitation programs aimed at improving mobility, function, and strength.

Summary/Objective

The Physical Therapist will effectively evaluate and treat patients for various physical therapy and rehabilitation programs while adhering to the highest standards of care.

Essential Functions

• Hold a valid license as a Physical Therapist in the state of practice.
• Maintain and update physical therapy skills and certifications as required.
• Conduct comprehensive evaluations and formulate appropriate treatment plans.
• Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for documentation, including evaluations, reports, and discharge summaries.
• Guide and monitor patient care throughout all stages of treatment and follow-up.
• Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants and Aides in delivering patient care.
• Effectively communicate with physicians and team members to ensure quality patient care.
• Document patient chart information accurately and follow up on prescriptions, test results, and authorizations.
• Ensure patient comfort and address inquiries as needed.
• Collaborate with front office staff regarding scheduling and patient follow-up.
• Utilize computer skills necessary to fulfill job responsibilities, including typing and EMR usage.
• Make independent decisions regarding patient care.
• Engage in business marketing and referrals when necessary.
• Adhere to HIPAA policies and procedures.
• Understand physical therapy billing policies for various insurance types.
• Demonstrate proficiency in diagnosis and ICD-10 coding.
• Maintain physical mobility to fulfill job demands, including sitting, walking, and standing for extended periods.
• Assist in lifting and transferring patients safely.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position includes supervising Physical Therapy Assistants and Aides in their patient care responsibilities.

Work Environment

The role is performed in an outpatient rehabilitation setting focused on physical therapy.

Patient Privacy Responsibilities

The Physical Therapist is expected to protect patient privacy in accordance with privacy policies, procedures, and applicable federal and state laws. Responsibilities include:

• Accessing protected health information only as required for job duties.
• Sharing patient information strictly on a need-to-know basis.
• Reporting any concerns regarding patient privacy to the designated Privacy Officer.
• Participating actively in privacy training and communicating privacy policies to colleagues and patients.
• Complying with OSHA and other regulatory standards.

Physical Demands

The role requires physical capability to perform essential functions, including walking, sitting, standing, lifting, and moving patients consistently throughout working hours. The position involves lifting objects over 50 pounds and supporting patient mobility and safety.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

• Degree in Physical Therapy.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Continuing Education courses in relevant fields.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Must hold an active license or plan to take necessary licensing examinations as a Physical Therapist in the relevant state.

Shift Information

This position requires daytime availability, and no holiday coverage is necessary.

Minimum Years of Experience

1 year of experience is preferred.
