Assistant Project Manager (Construction)

Assistant Project Manager The Assistant Project Manager is an entry‑level project management position expected to learn and develop competency in essential duties and responsibilities. The APM is responsible for providing administrative and construction support for the Project Management team. What You’ll Do Manage project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, and meeting minutes. Oversee project activities assigned by the Project Manager, including planning, coordinating, resolving problem areas, and ensuring all company/project policies, procedures, and standards are maintained. Maintain change orders, submittal, and document (drawing) control logs; prepare required logs and other project documentation for construction meetings. Ensure contract submittals are accurate and timely. Create and issue subcontractor contracts. Assemble and deliver Owner and Maintenance Manuals. Ensure the project quality control plan is followed. Interact with subcontractors to obtain correct documentation and drawings for the Owner and Maintenance Manuals. Keep the Warranty Log up to date. Attend company/project meetings with clients, subcontractors, etc., and provide project management support. Cooperate with and technically assist field personnel assigned to the area of responsibility. Monitor other contractors’ activities and progress. Create Job Information Sheets and establish Job Files. Prepare price change orders and project reports/documents. Work with payroll to ensure accurate payroll information. Other responsibilities will be assigned based on the position’s role within the business unit. What You’ll Need To Be Successful Knowledge of construction technology, scheduling, equipment, and methods required. Tactful and professional demeanor, able to interact effectively with managers, employees, vendors, and others. Strong organizational, record‑keeping, and follow‑up skills. Strong attention to detail. Excellence in organization and time‑management skills. Ability to identify and meet customers’ expectations and requirements. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); Oracle preferred. Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude. Oral and written communication skills as required. Self‑motivated, proactive, and effective team player. Interact professionally with all levels of employees, management, staff, vendors, clients, and others. What You Bring To Us Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field. Minimum one year of experience in a construction‑related role, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and relevant experience. Travel Up to 25%. Working Conditions Position performed primarily on active construction sites; activity includes sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending. Work conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions, such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. Noise level typically low to medium; occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
