Dental Assistant

Reporting to the Director of Clinical Operations, the Dental Assistant is responsible for providing high-quality service to patients, residents, faculty, and all other Columbia personnel.

Responsibilities

The Dental Assistant will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Assist dental providers in provision of dental care to patients by using four-handed dentistry including the preparation and maintenance of materials, instruments and equipment.
• Maintain appropriate dental supply and material inventory levels within the department, ensuring inventory levels are at par, disposing of expired supplies, and ordering and dispensing supplies as needed.
• Maintain dental/surgical equipment by identifying and reporting major malfunctions to the technical team.
• Provide cross coverage for dental assistant module areas and radiology.
• Maintain student and patient records.
• Pour and mix dental models.
• Perform general administrative functions, and related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training and experience.
• Dental Assistant requires formal training in four handed dentistry, sit-down dental assisting and six months of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Plus, one year of related experience preferred.
• Experience with dental x-rays. Graduation from a NY State approved dental assistant program.
• Bi-lingual (Spanish/English), including translation.
• BLS certification.
