Our client is seeking an experienced and people-focused HR Manager/Director with manufacturing experience to lead the organization's Human Resources function across the US and Canadian operations. This role will lead and develop a team of HR professionals and set the organization's overall HR strategy, with oversite of talent acquisitions, employee relations, workforce development, compliance, and culture alignment across both corporate and manufacturing populations. This role ensures the company attracts, retains, and develops top talent while fostering a safe, inclusive, values-driven workplace, and acts as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees, ensuring HR practices, comply with applicable U.S. and Canadian employment laws and industry best practices. This position requires a balance of strategic leadership and hands-on execution across HR processes in a manufacturing environment.

KEY DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. HR Leadership & Strategy

.. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of HR professionals, providing guidance, direction, and setting priorities across the HR function.

. Develop and implement HR policies, practices, and procedures that support U.S. and Canadian operations and establish the organization's overall HR strategies.

2.TALENT ACQUISITION & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

. Oversee recruitment across corporate, technical, field, and manufacturing roles in both the U.S. and Canada.

. Ensure inclusive hiring practices and a strong employee brand presence.

. Develop onboarding, training, anf csreer development programs to upskill employees.

. Support apprenticeship, trade partnerships, and community engagement initiatives.

3. EMPLOYEE RELATIONS & REPORTING

. Serve as an escalation point for employee relations matters, handling issues with confidentiality and fairness.

. Promote a positive, respectful, and safety-focused workplace culture.

. Lead employee recognition, wellness, and engagement initiatives across all locations.

4.COMPLIANCE & RISK MANAGEMENT

. Ensure compliance with applicable U.S. (e.g., FLSA, EEOC, ADA, OSHA) and Canadian (e.g., provincial Employment Standards, Occupational Health & Safety, Worker's Compensation) employment laws and regulations.

. Maintain employee records in compliance with applicable privacy and data protection laws (e.g., PIPEDA in Canada, relevant state privacy laws in the U.S.)

. Oversee workplace investigations and disciplinary actions needed.

5. HR OPERATIONS & REPORTING

. Oversee payroll, benefits administration, and HRIS processes across U.S. and Canadian operations.

. Partner with Finance to ensure accurate compensation, tax, and reporting practices.

. Prepare HR metrics and reports for leadership, including turnover, absenteeism, and workforce analytics.

. Experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., ADP, UKG Ceridian, Workday, or similar)

. Experience managing HR functions across both corporate and manufacturing/plant employee populations.

. Proficiency in MS Office Suite ( Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HR analytics tools.

SKILLS REQUIRED- NON TECHNICAL

. Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and communication skills.

. Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience managing HR staff.

. High emotional intelligence and ability to build trust across diverse teams.

. Problem-Solving, decision-making and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.

. Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on execution.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE

. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required: Master's degree is an asset.

. Minimum 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including experience leading or managing an HR team (Director-level candidates should have proportionally greater leadership experience).

. SHERM-CP/SCP, CHRP, CPHR, or equivalent HR certification strongly preferred.

. Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment highly desirable.

. Proven success leading HR functions across multiple U.S. and/or Canadian locations.
