Work Location: In-person; this is an office-based position and is not eligible for remote or work-from-home arrangements. Position Overview The Winter Garden Art Association (WGAA) is seeking an experienced, energetic, and community-minded Executive Director to lead the organization into its next phase of growth. The Executive Director will provide strategic, financial, and operational leadership while working closely with the Board of Directors, staff, artists, members, donors, volunteers, community partners, and the City of Winter Garden. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring strong business and nonprofit management skills, financial management, fundraising, organizational development, relationship building, communication, and community engagement. An appreciation for the visual arts is important; however, WGAA is seeking a leader whose primary strengths are in business management, organizational leadership, financial management, fundraising, and organizational growth . The Executive Director will ensure that WGAA operates effectively, remains financially sustainable, and continues to provide high-quality exhibitions, educational programs, and community experiences. The position requires a visible presence in the gallery and the community, with an emphasis on developing relationships, identifying opportunities for growth, and advancing the organization's mission. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors and works in partnership with the Board to implement WGAA's strategic plan, policies, and goals. Key Responsibilities Implement WGAA's strategic plan in collaboration with the Board of Directors. Ensure that daily activities and decisions are consistent with WGAA's mission, vision, policies, and goals. Provide effective leadership for staff, volunteers, programs, and operations. Maintain a positive and productive relationship with the City of Winter Garden and other key community stakeholders. Identify opportunities to strengthen and expand the organization's programs, visibility, and financial sustainability. Keep informed about trends, developments, and opportunities in the arts and nonprofit sectors. Maintain a professional and welcoming organizational identity through effective communications, marketing, website content, and gallery presentation. 2. Financial Management and Fundraising Develop and manage the annual operating budget in collaboration with the Board and Finance Committee. Monitor income, expenses, cash flow, and program performance to ensure responsible use of organizational resources. Develop and implement fundraising strategies, including individual giving, memberships, grants, sponsorships, special events, program revenue, fees, and commissions. Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, foundations, businesses, and community supporters. Identify and develop new revenue opportunities and partnerships. Provide regular financial and fundraising updates to the Board. Ensure that financial practices comply with applicable nonprofit requirements and organizational policies. 3. Program and Exhibition Management Oversee the development and execution of exhibitions, educational programs, classes, special events, and community initiatives. Ensure programs are high quality, financially responsible, accessible, and responsive to the interests of the community. Oversee gallery exhibition processes, including submissions, selections, installations, fees, commissions, sales, and attendance. Evaluate program and exhibition effectiveness and recommend improvements based on participation, financial results, and community response. Work with Board and member committees to encourage ideas, participation, and support for programs and events. Maintain an appropriate balance between WGAA's artistic, educational, community, and revenue-generating activities. 4. Gallery and Administrative Operations Oversee the effective day-to-day operation of the gallery and office. Establish and maintain efficient systems for scheduling, communications, applications, exhibitions, events, sales, and other organizational activities. Ensure effective use of digital platforms and software to support staff, Board members, artists, volunteers, and members. Maintain an accurate and useful CRM system for managing information and communication related to members, volunteers, donors, prospective donors, artists, and other constituents. Ensure that the WGAA website is current, informative, functional, and aligned with organizational goals. Maintain appropriate records and documentation. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, contracts, and nonprofit requirements. 5. Community Engagement and Partnerships Increase awareness and visibility of WGAA throughout Winter Garden, West Orange County, and surrounding communities. Develop and maintain strong relationships with artists, collectors, donors, businesses, schools, nonprofit organizations, arts organizations, and community leaders. Represent WGAA professionally at community events, meetings, and other appropriate functions. Develop outreach initiatives that expand participation in the arts and strengthen WGAA's role within the community. Seek opportunities for collaboration and partnerships that advance WGAA's mission and organizational goals. 6. Staff and Volunteer Leadership Supervise, support, and evaluate staff. Recruit, train, and effectively utilize volunteers. Establish clear expectations, responsibilities, and procedures for staff and volunteers. Foster a positive, collaborative, professional, and welcoming work environment. Monitor operations and staffing to ensure efficiency and accountability. Conduct regular staff and volunteer meetings to address procedures, priorities, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. Recognize and appreciate the contributions of staff and volunteers. Position Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred. Demonstrated experience in nonprofit, business, arts, or organizational management. Proven experience in fundraising, grant writing, sponsorship development, and donor relations. Strong financial and budget management skills. Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and public speaking skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and people. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Demonstrated commitment to community engagement and relationship building. Ability to work collaboratively with a Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, artists, donors, and community partners. Appreciation for the visual arts and the role of the arts in building a vibrant community. Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and special events as organizational needs require.
