JOB DESCRIPTION PRIMARY THERAPIST Statement of Purpose- The primary therapist provides direct services, including individual, couple/family, group psychotherapy, consultations, assessments, diagnosis and crisis intervention. The primary therapists are the heart and core of operating the intensive clinical day program and community building at Rose House. Primary therapist reports directly to the Executive Director and Clinical Lead.

 

MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

● Conduct assessments of clients at the time of admission, re-assessments as required, mental status examinations. Provide appropriate diagnoses and treatment recommendations based on a review of the client’s history, signs, and symptoms

● Insurance Authorizations and Concurrent Reviews

● Treatment Planning

● Individual therapy - maximum case load of 8-9

● Family Therapy

● Group Therapy -Responsible for creating therapeutic lessons and facilitating four therapeutic process oriented/experiential groups per weekly schedule. Responsible for co-facilitating four trauma paper/project presentation groups and one Gestalt group per weekly schedule

● Crisis Intervention, Behavioral Contingency Planning, Suicide risk assessment and prevention planning

● Appropriate, thorough and timely documentation

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

● Check and respond to emails daily - offer input to email conversations regarding handling client issues

● Read shift notes daily to stay informed of activity across shifts and within the milieu

● Read clients’ focus sheets daily and follow up on anything that stands out or requires attention.

● Provide weekly supervision and training to clinical interns/practicum students as needed

● Attend staff meetings Tuesday and Weds and actively participate in case conceptualization and treatment planning. Offer guidance and insight to staff about how to best support clients.

● Engage with family/support systems as appropriate

COMPETENCIES

● Treatment planning and lesson planning based on evidence based modalities for treating mental health/substance use/trauma. Relevant documentation strategies such as DAP notes.

● Knowledgeable and experienced in mental health, substance use and trauma treatment modalities

● Crisis intervention services.

● Knowledge of current legal standards pertaining to professional practice, reporting requirements, professional boundaries, and related issues.

● Knowledge mental health, family systems and 12 step/recovery resources in the community.

● Demonstrate professionalism in communication and action

● Ability to demonstrate respect for cultural and lifestyle diversities of clients and staff. PREREQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS

● Masters or Doctorate degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or social science. Licensed by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies as an LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LAC or by the Board of Psychology as a licensed Psychologist.

● Minimum of 3 years experience in private practice or within a treatment organization, including having group therapy and trauma therapy experience

● Experience with CBT, DBT, IFS, ACT, Gestalt, MI, EMDR preferred

● Must have valid driver’s license.

● Vision, hearing, manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination must be adequate for performance of job duties. Able to sit at desk, use keyboard, write and physically perform other job duties. Able to move about the facility to observe clients and staff

● CPR/First Aid/AED certification, obtain within 90 days of employment and maintain current thereafter.

● Computer skills adequate to perform word processing duties and to thoroughly document treatment in EHR within expected timeframe.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
