ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand
• At least 1 year of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and a 36-hour weekly schedule
• Strong patient assessment, critical-thinking, prioritization, and communication skills

ICU Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult patients in a medical ICU
• Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and respond promptly to clinical needs
• Administer medications and treatments safely while following established clinical protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Manage complex patient care needs, including hemodynamic monitoring and life-support interventions within scope of practice
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner
• Educate patients and families and support continuity of care during transitions
• Promote patient safety, infection prevention, and evidence-based nursing practice
