Job Title: RN Neuro PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Active Virginia State or Compact RN License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: EPIC charting experience required Description: POSITION: RN Neuro PCU Scheduling details: Shift hours: 3x12s, from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. Charting: EPIC experience required. Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block. Requests for time off must be included with the submission. Call-off Policy: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks. Holiday Requirement: Must work 1 holiday per 13-week contract. Accepts first-time travelers. Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS. Required Clinical Skills: Cardiac monitoring and emergency response including dysrhythmia interpretation/management and participation in rapid response or code teams. IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care. Medication administration, managing cardiac drips (no titration). Respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management. Experience in rapid response and following isolation precautions. Unit Details: Ratios: 1:4. Confirm traveler is comfortable with a 1:5 ratio. Patient population: Adult patients with neurological conditions. Care includes neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, neuro-specific diagnoses, and medical overflow. Floating may be required to units within the clinical skillset. Client Highlights: This is a large acute care teaching hospital and the region's only Level I Trauma Center. It is Magnet-designated for nursing excellence and features advanced specialty care. The facility is certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center providing comprehensive stroke care, including 24/7 neurointerventional coverage. Travel Compliance: Send all requests for time off up front. Travelers are required to work at least 1 holiday per 13-week assignment, with specific winter holidays having different requirements. Travelers who reside locally (within 100 miles of the facility) are not accepted. Modules are required to be completed within the first 24 hours and may be recorded for compensation.
